Traffic Camera Data & Reports
We run our own rolling HTTP checks against every official DOT traffic camera in this directory, around the clock. That produces a dataset nobody else has: which cameras exist, which are actually live, and which agencies keep their networks running. These reports publish it, self-updating, free to cite with credit and a link.
How Many Traffic Cameras Are in the US?
The national count no agency publishes: 15,619 official traffic-monitoring cameras tracked and verified, with per-state counts and the largest state DOT networks ranked by fleet size.
Camera Uptime Report
How many DOT cameras actually work: 79.4% of 11,461 measured cameras are verified live right now, with per-state live, stale, and dead counts and the lowest-ranked network (Washington) named.
Using this data
Every report has a machine-readable JSON twin linked from its page and refreshes continuously from live checks. Numbers we cannot measure reliably are left out, not estimated. Journalists and researchers: cite with credit and a link, and contact us for state-level detail or historical pulls.
