Privacy Policy

The short version

LiveTrafficCam has no accounts. Pages are plain HTML; the only scripts are a video player, loaded when you play a stream, and the performance beacon and usage-analytics script described below. The only cookies on our domain are two analytics cookies from Microsoft Clarity. We do not sell what we measure or combine it with anything else. Two third parties are involved in measurement: Cloudflare and Microsoft.

What we do process

Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes standard server logs, including IP addresses, to serve pages and protect against abuse. We see aggregate request counts, not browsing profiles. Camera images are proxied from the operating agencies; requesting a page fetches those images through our servers, not directly from the agency, so agencies do not see your IP address.

Analytics

We also measure page performance with Cloudflare Web Analytics. This loads one small script from static.cloudflareinsights.com that records how fast pages load and render (Core Web Vitals) and reports it in aggregate. It sets no cookies, does not fingerprint your browser or device, and does not track you across sites; Cloudflare acts as our data processor. Visitors in the European Union are excluded from this measurement entirely.

We use Microsoft Clarity to see how people use the site: where they click, how far they scroll, and replays of visits built from those clicks, scrolls and mouse movements, along with the type of page, the state and, on our search page, the words searched for. It helps us find pages that confuse people or break. Clarity loads its scripts from clarity.ms after the page has finished loading.

Clarity sets two cookies on our domain for every visitor, _clck and _clsk, so it can link the pages viewed in one visit and tell one visit from the next. Clarity's script server also sets a cookie on Microsoft's own domain (clarity.ms), which Microsoft can use to recognize a browser across sites that use Clarity. We tell Clarity not to set advertising cookies, and we block the other tracking images it would load. Anything typed into a text box is hidden from it. Microsoft receives the IP address making the request and processes this data under its privacy statement. Blocking cookies or scripts from clarity.ms stops all of this; the site works the same.

Email

If you email us, we keep the correspondence to answer you. Nothing else is done with it.

If you sign up for the weekly uptime digest, we store the email address you entered, the state you chose, the page you signed up from, and a hashed form of your connection's IP address that we keep only to limit signups per hour. Nothing is sent until you click the confirmation link, every email carries an unsubscribe link, and we never share the list. Emails are delivered by Resend, which records whether an email was opened.
